A Mass of Christian Burial will be held for James Roland Sharp, 55, at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 10, 2016 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. Rev. Jacob S. Conner will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Soileau under the direction of Allen Parish Funeral Home of Oberlin.
The family will receive visitors on Wednesday, March 9, 2016 from 3-9 p.m. at Allen Parish Funeral Home, 119 S. 7th Street, Oberlin. The Holy Rosary will be prayed at 6 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.
James, affectionately known as “Jimmy”, was a loving husband, father and brother. He was born in Kinder and grew up in Fenton where he graduated from high school. He was married to his wife, Jona, for twelve years and his children were his pride and joy. Jimmy loved being outdoors. He enjoyed gardening and landscaping. He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
Those left to cherish Jimmy’s memory include his wife, Jona Sharp, of Oberlin; his two sons, Harley James Sharp and Marvin Milton Sharp, both of Oberlin; one daughter, Gabriella Dena Sharp, of Oberlin; three brothers, Hubert Sharp and Chris Sharp, both of Beaumont, TX, and Sam Sharp and wife, Stacy, of Kinder; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Jimmy is preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Melvina Sharp.
