Oakdale-Funeral service for Lydia Leola Gibson, 80, will be held at Christ Church of Oakdale at 10 a.m. on Thursday, September 3, 2015. Rev. Greg Willis will officiate. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery of Hineston under the direction of Allen Parish Funeral Home.

The family will receive visitors at Christ Church of Oakdale on Wednesday, September 2, 2015 from 5-10 p.m. and will resume at the church on Thursday morning from 8 a.m. until time of service.

Leola was a devoted wife of 33 years to her husband, Dub. She was also a loving mother and grandmother. Leola loved her family. She was a woman of strong faith and loved God. She was a great cook and she enjoyed the outdoors, especially plants and gardening. Leola was a fun-loving lady who loved to pick and play with her family. She worked as a telephone operator for 17 years and was also a cafeteria worker with the Allen Parish School Board for 16 years. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Those left to cherish Leola’s memory include her husband, Corneith (Dub) Gibson of Oakdale; three sons-Gary Bozzell and wife, Charlotte, of Toledo Bend, Clark Bozzell and wife, Wendy, of Denton, TX, and Scott Bozzell of Baton Rouge; one stepson-Weylin Gibson of Oakdale; four stepdaughters-Lydia Singleton of Grant, Joy Tobert of Anthony, FL, Agnes Pate of Mittie, and Cynthia Gonzalez of Mittie; one brother, D.W. Bass, Jr. of Oakdale; 19 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren.

Leola is preceded in death by her parents-David and Lydia Bass; one brother-James Bass; and two sisters-Laverne Willis and Doris Pender.
